COMING UP THE RUNWAY

FROM BEING IN THE CROWD TO CURATING HER OWN SHOWS, CHASITY ANIECE IS TAKING SOME MASSIVE STRIDES TOWARD CHANGING THE NARRATIVE OF CT’S FASHION SCENE.

Chasity Aniece is a fashion model, creative director and entrepreneur who has been changing the look of CT’s fashion scene one runway at a time with her company Chasity Aniece Productions or CA Productions. As a Bridgeport native, she has a deep love for the culture and the talent that exists not only within her city but in the state of Connecticut as a whole.

We had the opportunity to join Chasity at one of her castings for her upcoming fashion show, Live in Color: Motherland Fashion Show.

BIZZIE: Tell me about CA Productions and what the overarching mission is for your company.

CHASITY: I started CA Productions in 2019 right before COVID hit. CA Productions is a platform that aims to redefine the culture of fashion. The fashion industry can be extremely cut throat so my goal is to create a space where creators uplift and inspire each other, rather than stepping on each other’s necks to get to the top. The mission for my company is to encourage, empower, and educate the community one production at a time. Eventually, I am going to open up a modeling academy for freelance models and an all inclusive modeling agency.

BIZZIE: Connecticut’s fashion scene can seem almost nonexistent for folks on the outside looking in. Do you feel that way as someone who is in the fashion scene here?

CHASITY: I definitely disagree 100%. We have so much talent & trendsetters out here it’s really crazy. Every production I put on, I come in contact with new designers/stylists from CT who can offer so much to the fashion industry if given the chance.

BIZZIE: Have you always wanted to get into fashion and runway? What made you start doing fashion shows?

CHASITY: My love for fashion & production  honestly grew around my Junior year of high school when I attended my first fashion show. Ever since then I wanted to put my own shows together as well as model in it. I coordinated my first fashion and talent show my senior year of high school but in the moment I did it for fun, not really for any deeper meaning or purpose. Little did I know, I’d create a whole production business years later.

BIZZIE: What does it feel like seeing the outcome of your fashion shows?

CHASITY: I feel so blessed and proud every show. I put my whole heart into it all so when I see floods of people excited to support and be apart of my vision, I literally could cry.

BIZZIE: What’s the most challenging part about coordinating these fashion shows?

CHASITY: I would say the most challenging part would be getting over imposter syndrome. I feel like most creators can relate to this but I’m my worst critic. Getting over the idea that everything has to be perfect 100% of the time is a struggle for me sometimes.

BIZZIE: What is a goal you have or something you hope to accomplish for your company this year?

CHASITY: I AM going to open an establishment for CA Productions, where the academy and all of my productions will be ran.

BIZZIE: You have your first show of 2023 coming up on February 26th in Norwalk. What can we expect from the show?

CHASITY: You can expect an immersive runway experience that encourages black excellence and culture through art, design, fashion, and music. We are taking you to the motherland through African artistry and will showcase our culture in many forms of expression and movement.
