Recap: Mini x Thrift2death Street Market

SATURDAY, MARCH 30 THESE THREE FASHION ICONS JOIN FORCES TO SHUT DOWN DOWNTOWN NEW HAVEN WITH A PLETHORA OF SECOND-HAND GOODIES.

Thrift2Death is a New York City collective comprised of 2 halves - stylist Treysaun McGeachy and Christian Neals better known by their Instagram handles @Treysonn_ and @Christherula. A quick scan of their respective IG’s gives you some insight into their extensive history and intimate relationship with fashion.

Connecticut’s beloved MiniPNG needs no introduction (check out our story on her here). But for the sake of new patrons of Cafeteria Media, I’ll give a *mini* intro - her name is Eirres Hammond. She not only works with a variety of textiles to create unique and individual pieces for sale under her brand name but also boasts an impressive collection of vintage and Y2K pieces for resale in her Audubon storefront.

All right enough of the introductions, let’s get into it - Saturday, March 30 these three fashion icons joined forces to shut down Audubon Street in Downtown New Haven from 12 to 6 pm. They showcased 30+ vendors, live music performances from local bands, giveaways, and even had a tattoo artist on the scene.

Audubon Street was packed and no matter which way you entered you were met with racks upon racks of pre-loved treasures, handpicked by each vendor, there was no shortage of options. Whether you came looking for jewelry, clothing, or just an opportunity to spend time around like-minded people, you’d have your pick.

Some fan favorites in the retail market included Forgotten Flea and Rework Shop, and that only scratches the surface. The musical selection kept patrons energized thanks to our faves - Angel Loor, Joopi, and Queen Kong. This street market was more than a fashion lovers’ glimpse of heaven, it was a celebration of sustainability and community.

MiniPNGs store is located at 77 Audubon Street in Downtown New Haven, so if you’re local.. even if you’re not - be sure to stop in and check it out. Thrift2Death is currently on an east coast tour, but their home base is in the heart of NYC - you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you missed the next pop-up (on Saturday, April 20th).

Keep up with both MiniPng & thrift2death for new events, pop-ups, etc via their socials.
