The crew at On&On Radio is cultivating a series that brings people together by getting them involved. The New Haven-based collective reached out to Cafeteria to collab on the second rendition of The Mixer at The CAF which, marks their first event in Hartford. Both parties left stoked about the outcome.

“Open Decks” is a widely recognized event format, seen more common in cities with a dense DJ / nightlife outlet. The concept is simple: New and seasoned DJs look to develop their skills or connect with adjacent DJs and promoters in a real-world experience, making open deck nights impactful if you’re looking for gigs. These events, often held in public venues, offer aspiring DJs the chance to sign up or submit for a timeslot amongst several others. It's a relatively low-stakes opportunity to hone your craft, gain experience performing live, and sometimes practice on better audio equipment.

Lineup:

THE//MOON (8-8:15), DJ headcase (8:15-8:30), DPHR (8:30-8:45), DJnotbryan (9-9:15), DJ issh (9:15-9:30), SV Rocko (9:30-9:45), JRZ (9:45-10), link0422 (10-10:15), Juancho (10:15-10:30), Moneyycatt (10:30-10:45)

Amongst the O&O crew is emerging DJ / Producer Nusnce who issued a standout Cafeteria.FM set last year so when approached with this idea, it was a no-brainer. It was certainly memorable. Everyone in the room was super engaged, DJs hyped each other up and came up to the booth, some even spectating on another’s technique. Luckily for us, Nusnce was able to snag the audio for the evening’s closing slot featuring a digital and vinyl set alongside Moneyycatt and Josh from Pressing Plant. Listen above and check out photos below.
