“EXHIBITING FORGIVENESS” OPENS AT REAL ART WAYS
Marking NXTHVN co-founder and artist Titus Kaphar’s directorial debut.
NXTHVN co-founder and artist Titus Kaphar tackles generational trauma in his debut film, Exhibiting Forgiveness. Making its premiere on Friday, October 25 at Real Art Ways, the poignant film navigates the pain of forgiving and forgetting. The narrative follows the story of acclaimed American painter Tarrell. Living with his wife Aisha and teenage son Jermaine, Tarrell draws inspiration from his painful past to create evocative works of art. While the protagonist balances his career and family, his life is interrupted by the return of his estranged father. Although his admirably pious mother urges him to make amends, Tarrell struggles with the emotional wounds inflicted by his father’s past neglect.
It’s no secret that life and art enjoy a reciprocal relationship and Exhibiting Forgivness is no exception as the film is a letter to Kaphar’s teenage sons, giving his own family insight into his upbringing.
Exhibiting Forgiveness will be screening daily from Friday, October 25th until Thursday, October 31st with a special post-screening conversation on Saturday, October 26th, led by RAW Board member Derek Hall. For more information, visit Real Art Ways’ website.
