Pratt Street, Trumbull Street, Hartford Taste Food Festival Returns June 7, 8

Food, music, art lovers of Connecticut, you are in for a treat.

Hartford Taste festival returns for its third iteration, this year moving to Pratt Street and part of Trumbull Street. Over 30 food vendors and restaurants are expected to line the streets on June 7 and 8 from noon to 9pm, showcasing the best CT has to offer and filling the air with mouth watering aromas. The festival aims to reflect the Hartford region's diverse cultures and communities, as food selections range from sushi to tacos, barbecue to Pad Thai, and much much more.

"[Hartford Taste] brings together all of the tastes and culture and flavor of the city that I think so many people miss out on when you drive by on the highway," says Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam at a recent press conference. The festival is expected to draw massive crowds over the two days, energizing Hartford’s downtown area and highlighting the many local businesses in the capitol.

In addition to the plethora of delicious food offerings, Hartford Taste also aims to highlight and celebrate the region’s rich culture, talented musicians, artists, and community stakeholders. Festival goers will be treated to 30+ musical acts spanning many different genres while they shop the small vendors and artisans, or as they enjoy live art produced by artists.

Pratt and Trumbull Street will be the new location for the festival this year.

This year, The Hartford is once again the presenting sponsor of this annual tradition. The insurance company will be covering all of the vendor fees to ensure that all interested restaurants can participate in the festival free of charge. Free and open to the public, the street festival offers plenty of activities for attendees of all ages, and is a perfect way to spend some quality time with friends and family. The festival does not accept cash and card purchases, and instead employs a ticket based system for payment. Food tickets can be purchased the day of the event, or in advance on the Hartford Taste website.

Proceeds of Hartford Taste will go to Connecticut Foodshare, the food bank serving the state’s residents. With the funding it receives, Connecticut Foodshare provides millions of meals to people in need every year. As a result of this great partnership, festival attendees can feel great about the purchases they make as their money is being put to good use to reduce food insecurity across the state.

Pratt Street is no stranger to large events, as shown by the packed Salsa Fest.

So, what are you waiting for? Mark your calendars, tell your friends and family, and see you Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 for a perfect start to your summer!
