YEAR 17: THE TRINITY INTERNATIONAL HIP HOP FESTIVAL

THE TEMPLE OF HIP HOP AT TRINITY COLLEGE HAS ANNOUNCED THEIR OFFICIAL LINEUP & SCHEDULE FOR THE 17TH ANNUAL TRINITY INTERNATIONAL HIP HOP FESTIVAL!

Before the rap game, before MC’s, before all that we know as Hip Hop today…there was the disc jockey, the DJ. They provided the rhythm, the vibe, the beat and would have people from every borough, town and district in the club jamming all night long. This year, Temple of Hip Hop is taking it all the way back to the foundation of the music genre that took over the world. The 17th Annual Trinity International Hip Hop Festival is bringing in not just one, not two but three DJ’s on their list of performers, one of which being the headliner, DJ Zinhle all the way from South Africa!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the festival; The Trinity International Hip Hop Festival is a free, multi-day celebration that brings together Hip Hop artists from around the world from all disciplines.

Everyone comes together to celebrate the history and constant expansion of this popular music genre. As seen on the festival’s schedule to the right, it’s clear that this event is more than just a simple concert.

From conversations around Hip Hop’s legacy to showcases and competitions, this fest is nothing short of interactive! For 17 years this student organized event has attracted the likes of legends like KRS One, MC Lyte, DJ Kool Herc, and Rakim to newer faces (in comparison) like Dave East and Oshun.

Starting next Thursday, March 30th and going into Saturday, April 1st, this event has a plethora of happenings for people to not only interact with but to observe as well. One of the most popular events is the upcoming, highly anticipated Breakdance Battle. This year there will be a dance workshop and auditions sponsored by Redbull along with a 3v3 breakdancing tournament that starts on Friday, March 31st. Happening friday will also be an all day graffiti competition and a production workshop.

Saturday though, Saturday is the day that everything happens! From voting for the winner of the Graffiti competition to a producer panel to several showcases like the Favorites Showcase and the popular Youth 4 Change Showcase that happen throughout the day, all leading up to the main concert that takes place in the Washington Room.

This event will be celebrating 50 years of HIp Hop culture and 17 years of the festival. So come out and join us for one of the longest running events in Hartford to see all of the amazing artists and happenings yourself!

If you see me, Bizzie Ruth, running around with my camera, don’t hesitate to say hi and get your photo taken! I’ll be catching content for Cafeteria Media throughout the whole event so stay tapped in with us on IG for live videos, reels, pictures and more stories on the 17th Trinity International Hip Hop Festival!
