Located at 56 Lexington St. in New Britain, Connecticut, the museum features an array of pieces in different media, including furniture, oil, paintings, etc. Founded in 1903, the museum aims to allow the public to explore the unfolding history of America through the featured artists’ eyes, collected over the years.

First Fridays are a recurring event at the Museum, first born in 1995. The event features live music, a cash bar, and an opportunity to explore the museum and all its exhibits. 21 and older, the evening offers an immersive experience, educating the patrons while providing a space to connect.
I’ve spoken a lot about third spaces and the creative communities’ active push to open their arms and doors to newcomers. There’s a collective passion for creating a more symbiotic relationship between different art media and their audiences. Frequenting different social events and creating meaningful connections with your peers is what community building is all about.
April’s event featured the Randall Kane Quartet, a live jazz band, and had its visitors lost in not only the music but the exhibits. It’s a great opportunity for an early evening night out, running from its usual time, 5:30 pm - 8 pm.
The next First Friday will take place on Friday, May 2nd & will feature the “70s Project” - a band that pays tribute to the vibrant era via their musical selection from the decade’s Billboard 100s.
“The 70’s Project recreates a truly magical musical experience that will have you singing, dancing, and longing for your bell-bottoms and lava lamps once again!”

Will I see you there?
