Weird Music Night Celebrates Its First Anniversary

AN EVENING OF AUDIOVISUAL INNOVATION.

Weird Music Night returns to the Ely Center for Contemporary Art this April 10th for its first birthday, offering a wondrous celebration of audiovisual experimentation. Carefully curated by artist and organizer John O’Donnell, Weird Music Night lives up to its name, going beyond mainstream music conventions to marry engaging visual art with otherworldly soundscapes, resulting in a wholly unique experience.

The special evening features performances from artists Andrei Jay and Skull Tower 4E. Andrei Jay is both an engineer and educator, bringing his background in mathematics to provide an interactive activation for attendees. Using video synthesizers, Jay transforms systems and code into ever-evolving visuals, created by collaboration.

Skull Tower 4E, a collaborative sound project of visual artists John O’Donnell and Peter Fulop, closes the sure-to-be scintillating evening with an auditory response to silent film. Traversing different yet connected mediums, Skull Tower 4E’s work presents an ephemeral and textural soundscape. Using modern day technology to celebrate one of humanity’s earliest masterpiece is nothing short of sonically sentimental. New Haven-based musician Funkbucket will be also playing a set, while the festivities will include a listening party for Pervertert Savant’s new album, Pretentious Detention.

Join us at Weird Music Night on Thursday, April 10 at 7pm at the Ely Center.
