Where ART Thou? - Recognizing CT’s Places and Faces for creativity
The CT Public program tapped in with Josh from The CAF to learn about the intention behind our space and introduce our two contemporaries, Lindaluz Carillo and Dom McLennon.
The CAF store in Hartford recently appeared on an episode of "Where ART Thou?". This show brought to you by CTPublic TV celebrates the diverse artists and cultural treasures unique to our state. Hosted by Ray Hardman, the series takes viewers into the studios of artists from various disciplines, exploring their creative processes, inspirations, and the unique cultural heritage they represent.
For this episode, Ray Hardman and the "Where ART Thou?" team visited The CAF at its former downtown Hartford location to meet with Joshua Jenkins, co-owner and buyer of The CAF, who was approached by the CTPublic TV team to curate the episode. Joshua had the opportunity to share context behind the shop’s intentions to stay connected within the Hartford community and chose to highlight two remarkable contemporaries: Lindaluz Carrillo and Dom McLennon.
Lindaluz Carrillo, also known as Airis, is an Afro-Peruvian artist best known for her vibrant public murals. Her work brings color and life to the streets, and she is now exploring new mediums, including textiles, sculpture, and digital media. During her segment, Lindaluz shared her journey as an artist, from her early creative endeavors to studying art and discovering the spiritual aspects of her work. We recently collaborated with Lindaluz on her interpretation of the PF Flyers Center Lo
Dom McLennon, a recording artist and producer, has recently returned to Hartford after nearly a decade with the boy band Brockhampton. Dom is now channeling his creative energy into a new venture, COURTVISION, a creative agency specializing in digital media and creative support. On the show, he discussed his experiences with a major record deal, the release of his new solo EP, and why Hartford felt like the perfect place to establish COURTVISION.
This episode of "Where ART Thou?" highlights the dynamic and inspiring creative community in Hartford, showcasing the talents and stories of those making a mark in the arts and culture scene. Additionally featured in this episode is Allen Kosanovich, Head of Conservation at The Wadsworth. Many know The Wadsworth is the oldest continuously operating public art museum in the and Allen shows us what goes into restoring and maintaining their collection so that the art can be enjoyed far into the future. We're incredibly proud of Josh and our team at The CAF for being featured and cultivating a must-visit destination in our region, and for bringing attention to the amazing work happening in our city.
